Park Hill Church

Park Hill Church is a diverse community of Jesus followers located in San Diego California.  Park Hill is built around the idea of Practicing the way of Jesus, together, in their city.  The Brand Identity created reflects the Church’s place and call to the city of San Diego and surrounding areas.  Inspired by the unique characteristics and culture of this area we have created a comprehensive Brand Identity that is light, joyful and full of life.

  • When creating the wordmarks for the brand identity our goal was to create a set of marks that were simple in nature and gave an overall feeling of joy and elegance. Taking inspiration from this goal we created a beautiful set of wordmarks that not only help simply identify the church but also allow for implementation in any use.

    The typography chosen is an updated take on the current typography system in place at Park Hill Church. The updated letter forms help bring consistency to the brand and allow the typography to be used more properly across a diverse range of mediums. The Serif lettering style is reflective of many lettering styles found in Southern California, while the tall sans-serif and monospaced lettering helps ground the brand and bring a sense of timelessness.

  • As mentioned previously, Church logos historically have unfortunately been overly obvious and unoriginal. To avoid this, for the Secondary Mark we created a monogram design that freed us up from some of the more traditional church branding constraints. The mark created is an interwoven P-H-C that we drew by hand to reflect the interwoven community at Park Hill Church. This monogram feels timeless (as monograms are) and original - once again reflecting the community and location. In addition the monogram helps round out the entire Brand Identity and offers Park Hill the use of an icon for the first time.

  • Like the entirety of the Brand Identity, the colors chosen are reflective of the location of Park Hill - Southern California. The colors present are inspired by the warm sky in the summer afternoons, the ocean green hues, the San Diego Sunflowers that you may find regularly blooming and the sandy cliff sides. Overall the colors help bring the Brand Identity to life, rooting it in its place and offering an overall sense of joy.
